One day, a mutant sea captain named Mariner arrives on the Dryland, seeking refuge and offering to trade valuable goods. However, when Deacon discovers that Mariner is a hybrid of human and fish DNA, he sentences him to death. Mariner manages to escape and teams up with a young woman named Enola, who has a map tattooed on her back that leads to a mysterious place called "Dryland." Mariner and Enola embark on a perilous journey across the ocean, pursued by Deacon and his men. Along the way, they encounter dangerous sea creatures and hostile pirates who seek to claim Enola's map for themselves.
