Waiting for August

In "Waiting for August," a young girl named Georgiana is left to care for her six siblings in a social housing complex in Romania after their mother leaves to find work in Italy. With incredible resilience and resourcefulness, Georgiana navigates the challenges of adolescence and adulthood, improvising parenting advice from television and occasional phone calls with her mother. As she juggles her own struggles and high school dramas, Georgiana must also contend with nosy neighbors who threaten to report the family to social services.
