Welcome to the Sticks

Welcome to the Sticks is a heartwarming comedy that follows Philippe Abrams, a post office administrator who is banished to a small town in northern France, Bergues, after being caught in a scam. Philippe is initially hesitant to embrace his new surroundings, but he soon discovers that the town is full of warm, friendly people and co-workers. He becomes fast friends with Antoine, a charming postman who introduces him to the local way of life. Philippe's wife, Julie, joins him in Bergues, but he is forced to confess to his friends and colleagues that he has described them as barbarians to her. They decide to help him by behaving poorly to cover for his lies and to scare Julie away. However, Julie decides to stay in Bergues and support Philippe after discovering that she has been tricked about the town's true location. Meanwhile, Antoine and Annabelle, a worker at the post office, rekindle their romance despite their previous breakup due to Antoine's passiveness towards his overbearing mother. The film is a hilarious portrayal of cultural clashes between the south and north of France, with a touching storyline about friendship, love, and finding happiness in unexpected places.
