Mali Twist

In the newly independent Mali of the 1960s, young people in Bamako dance the twist to rock and roll music and dream of political change. Samba, a charismatic socialist, falls for spirited Lara during one of his missions to the bush. To escape her forced marriage, she secretly flees with him to the city. But their love is threatened by Lara's husband and the Revolution's harsh realities. Can their love survive the challenges of a nation in turmoil?
