den store Japanske instruktør Ozu's mest berømte film. Man skal lige vænne sig til stilen i hans neddæmpede familiedramaer, så er han helt oppe at ringe på samme måde som den bredere kendte instruktør Kurosawa.

What is Tokyo Story about? Toggle content

Tokyo Story (1953) - A Timeless Tale of Love and Regret Shukichi and Tomi, an elderly couple, embark on a journey to Tokyo to visit their adult children, only to find that their busy lives have left little room for them. As they navigate the city's fast-paced rhythm, they discover that the bond between parent and child is not as strong as they had hoped. Their son Koichi, a doctor, and daughter Shige, a hairdresser, are consumed by their careers, leaving little time for their parents. Only Noriko, their widowed daughter-in-law, shows genuine affection towards them. She takes them on a tour of Tokyo's iconic landmarks but struggles to connect with her in-laws. As tensions rise and unresolved issues surface, the family is forced to confront the harsh realities of modern life. The film poignantly captures the fragility of relationships and the impact of time on familial bonds. Will they be able to reconnect before it's too late?
