The Tooth and the Nail

In 1947, a magician named Seok-jin plans the most elaborate trick to find out hidden conspiracy in his fiancée's death. In Seoul, after Japan's colonialism, two men, Nam Do-jin and Lee Seok-jin, were involved in a murder case. Lee Seok-jin, a circus magician with extraordinary skills, fell in love with Jung Ha-yeon and they got married. Ha-yeon was killed, and Seok-jin was devastated. He discovered a copper plate, which led him to suspect that Ha-yeon's death was related to a counterfeit bank note incident. A Japanese police officer told Seok-jin about a man named Shigeru Okamoto, who was fluent in multiple languages and always with a woman. Seok-jin changed his name to Choi seung man, became a taxi driver, and burned each bank note he received from each passenger to test if the note was counterfeit. He found Okamoto, who turned out to be Nam Do-Jin, hired him as his driver, and secretly watched his every move while living in Do-Jin's stone mansion. Do-Jin wanted Seok Jin to make a phone call to say he received a copper plate and not to look for him. The recipient was killed by Do-Jin after telling him the copper plate was in brothel owner Mdm Sung's possession. Mdm Sung contacted seok Jin, claiming that Ha-yeon was Do-Jin's lover before they separated. Enraged by her words, seok Jin nearly killed her. Angered by her words, but managed to control himself and went back to do-Jin mansion with the copper plate and a letter, which Sung claimed revealed the truth about Ha- yeon. Later, when Sek-jin confronted DO-jn at gunpoint over Ha- Yeon's death, DO-jn claimed he had never loved her and killed her silence her. During the fight, SEok- jin was knocked unconscious, planted fake evidence; Seok-inen burned sung severed head and the letter given to him by sung instead of investigating her true feelings further. Finally, SEok_jn fled and went into hiding after tipping off to police an anonymous identity that "a murder" had taken place in Do_jn mansion..Do- Jn was subsequently arrested charged with "Choi seung man"
