The Scarlet Letter

In 17th-century Massachusetts, a young woman named Hester Prynne arrives from England, awaiting her husband's arrival. She falls for a charming minister, Arthur Dimmesdale, and they begin a secret love affair. When Hester becomes pregnant, she's imprisoned for her indiscretion. The minister intends to confess his sin, but Hester convinces him to keep quiet. Sentenced to wear a scarlet "A" for adultery, Hester faces public ostracism. Meanwhile, her husband resurfaces, having spent his absence as a prisoner of war. As tensions rise, the Puritan community is torn between their strict beliefs and their desire for revenge.
