The Outsiders

The Outsiders is a classic coming-of-age drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton. The movie follows the story of Ponyboy Curtis and his two older brothers, Sodapop and Darrel, who are part of a group of poor, working-class teenagers known as the Greasers in 1965 Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Greasers are constantly at odds with their wealthier, more privileged rivals, the Socs. One night, Ponyboy and Johnny Cade are attacked by a group of Socs while walking home from the movies. In self-defense, Johnny kills one of the attackers, leading to a chain of events that puts them on the run from the law and ultimately leads to tragedy. The film explores themes of family, loyalty, class struggle, and violence as the young characters navigate their way through a difficult and unforgiving world.
