The King and the Clown

In 16th century Korea, two street performers, Jangsaeng and Gong-gil, are arrested for treason after mocking the king and his court in a skit. To avoid execution, they perform a final skit that impresses the king, who spares their lives and invites them to join his court. However, the king's fascination with Gong-gil, who specializes in female roles, leads to tension between the two friends and eventually, tragedy. As the king's behavior becomes more erratic and violent, Jangsaeng and Gong-gil must decide whether to stay in the palace or risk their lives to escape. Will their bond survive the dangerous whims of the king, or will they fall victim to his tyranny?
