11-year-old Alex is a dreamy, lonely child who has just one friend, Lucie. He misses his father, who is sailing around the world and sending his son butterflies to add to his collection. One day, Alex receives a strange package containing several cocoons ready to hatch, including one that is unusually large. When the cocoons turn into magnificent butterflies, he realizes that the largest one can talk and has magical powers. Alex drops everything to devote himself to his new friend.
