The Empire of Corpses

In a steampunk version of 19th century Europe, a young medical student named John Watson is recruited by the government to become a secret agent. Watson lives in a world where human corpses are reanimated with artificial souls and used as laborers, soldiers, and even servants. His mission is to retrieve a powerful document known as The Memorandum, which holds the secret to creating intelligent corpses. Along the way, Watson encounters a group of people who are trying to stop the spread of the Memorandum's dangerous technology, including a mysterious woman named Hadaly and a former U.S. President named Ulysses S. Grant. They are opposed by a powerful and dangerous being known as The One, who seeks to use the Memorandum to create an army of intelligent corpses and take revenge on humanity. The story is a thrilling adventure filled with action, mystery, and the exploration of themes such as life, death, and what it means to be human.
