What is The Chorus about? Toggle content

The Chorus (2004) In 1950, Clément Mathieu, a failed musician, becomes a supervisor and teacher at a French boarding school for troubled boys. Despite the strict headmaster's harsh punishments, Mathieu uses humor and kindness to win over the boys. He discovers their love for singing and forms a choir as a form of discipline. The choir flourishes with Morhange as its lead soloist, bringing happiness to the children and faculty. However, a new student Mondain causes trouble and disrupts the choir. Mathieu continues to teach his choir "underground" and helps Morhange win a scholarship to the music conservatory in Lyon. The Countess, a sponsor of the school, discovers the choir and they perform before her and others. Mathieu discovers that Corbin stole the money that Mondain was accused of taking but Rachin refuses to accept Mondain back at the school. When Rachin departs to accept an award from the board after taking credit for the choir's success, Mathieu takes advantage of his absence for an outing with Maxence... A heartwarming story about how music can transform lives!
