The Best Two Years

The Best Two Years follows the lives of four Mormon missionaries living in a small apartment in Haarlem, Netherlands. Elder Johnson, the district leader, and Elder Van Pelt, his companion, are distinctly different in their personalities. Elder Rogers has become disillusioned with his mission after his girlfriend married another missionary. The three meet Elder Calhoun, a new missionary who is eager but lacks fluency in Dutch. Despite this, Calhoun manages to connect with an American man named Kyle and teaches him about Joseph Smith and Joseph's First Vision. As tension builds between Johnson and Van Pelt, they encounter a series of unexpected events that test their faith and friendship. The movie culminates in a baptism and a bittersweet goodbye as Rogers leaves for home.
