The Berlin File

In the heart of Berlin, a tense illegal arms deal between a North Korean spy and a Middle Eastern terrorist goes wrong when unexpected assailants disrupt the exchange. The North Korean agent, Pyo Jong-seong, narrowly escapes, but his wife, Ryun Jung-hee, a translator at the North Korean embassy, is captured by the South Korean intelligence agent, Jung Jin-soo. As Pyo tries to rescue his wife and uncover the truth behind the failed weapons deal, he discovers that he has been set up by a ruthless fixer, Dong Myung-soo, who is working for the North Korean government. With the rival Korean intelligence agencies closing in, Pyo forms an uneasy alliance with Jung to defect to the South Koreans and clear his name. However, their plan is complicated when Dong contacts the brother of the Middle Eastern terrorist and enlists his help to capture Pyo and Ryun. The couple is cornered and captured by the Arabs following Dong's tips, but they are saved by Jung. As Pyo and Jung track down Dong and Abdul Abdul's men, they are intercepted by a flash grenade fired by Jung. In the chaos that ensues during the three-way shootout between Pyo, Jung; Dong; the North Koreans; and Arabs: Dong faces off against Pyo in a final showdown, resulting in death. Unfortunately, Ryun gets caught in the crossfire dies from her wound sustained during the captivity. Jung returns to headquarters, where he learns that Dons father has covered up scandals, using Pyo as scapegoats. Frustrated with internal corruption, Jung warns Payo to go into hiding and live the rest of his life "looking over his shoulder." The movie ends with Reo boarding a plane to Vladivostok unaware of what's waiting for him. This movie depicts a web of complex deceit suspense, and action in the underworld of espionage. The storyline is packed with unexpected turns and twists as the characters navigate their way through treachery betrayal, and death.
