In the remote hills of Galicia, a convict fresh out of prison seeks to retrieve a long-buried treasure. The Apostle is a Spanish stop-motion animated horror-comedy film that tells the story of Ramón, a prisoner who recently escaped from prison and is seeking to recover a treasure he hid years ago in secluded Galician Village. The movie features an ensemble cast of voice actors, including Luis Tosar, Geraldine Chaplin, Manuel Manquiña , Jorge Sanz, and Paul Naschy. It explores themes of mystery, terror, humor, fantasy ,and adventure as Ramon navigates through eerie village inhabitants, strange disappearances ,and supernatural entities. The Apostle was the first stop-motion film made in Spain using clay animation. It was directed by Fernando Cortizo and released in 2012 .The movie's production was not without challenges as the director could not recover the costs of production due to distributor's fraud; as a result, Cortizo encouraged viewers on YouTube to donate to help pay off the debts incurred during the film's creation.
