What is Taking Woodstock about? Toggle content

In the summer of 1969, Elliot Tiber, a struggling interior designer from Greenwich Village, returns home to help his parents save their run-down motel, El Monaco, in Bethel, New York. With the motel facing financial troubles and the bank threatening to foreclose, Elliot sees an opportunity to revitalize the business by hosting a small musical festival. He obtains a permit from the town's chamber of commerce and offers the motel and its facilities to the organizers of the Woodstock Festival, who are facing opposition against their originally planned location. Elliot's offer is accepted, and the festival is set to take place on Max Yasgur's nearby farm. As more and more people arrive, the festival grows in size and scope, becoming the iconic Woodstock Music and Arts Festival that defines a generation.
