The Enlightener

"Sang Pencerah" tells the inspiring story of Ahmad Dahlan, a courageous and visionary leader who dared to challenge the status quo in 19th-century Indonesia. Returning from Mecca, Dahlan discovers that the direction of Qibla in the Great Mosque of Kauman is incorrect, sparking controversy and resistance from local religious leaders. Undeterred, he starts a movement to change the direction of Qibla and establish a new Islamic organization called Muhammadiyah, which preaches Islam without any influence from Javanese mysticism. Despite facing hostility and opposition, Dahlan's unwavering dedication to his cause leads to the founding of a progressive Islamic organization that promotes peace, truth, and inner peace.
