Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning

After meeting the gentle Tomoe Yukishiro, fearsome assassin Kenshin Himura begins to question his philosophy on killing. He joins the Choshu clan and works as an assassin alongside I'izuka. During the Ikedaya incident, Himura rushes to protect the Choshu and rescue Katsura but is delayed by the Shinsengumi captain Okita Sōji. Himura and the Choshu are forced to withdraw from the area. Katsura arranges for Kenshin and Tomoe to hide in the village of Otsu. During their time in the village, Himura learns to be a farmer and understands the meaning of peace and happiness. Tomoe's brother, Enishi reveals both as spies working for the Yaminobu. Tomoe refuses to continue working with them and asks Enishi to return home to Edo. When Himura returns, he consoles her and tells her that she has done enough and should no longer carry the pain. The leader of Yaminobu Tatsumi visibly distresses and distracts Himura intentionally , however he is skillful enough to instinctively fight and defend himself After reaching Tatsumi , Himurahas reached his limit can temporarily neither see nor hear. As Tatsumi is about defeat Himur, Tomoe intervenes by restraining Tatsumi. Unaware that Tomoe was right in front of him , Himuradeals a death blow , killing Tatsumi fatally wounding Tomoe . In her last breath , Tomoe carves another scar on Himur's cheek with her dagger , thus completing a cross-shaped scar that her fiancée had started , whilst apologizing him for pain she has caused After Tomoe passes away shortly , Katsra visits Hisma at the village house inform him that they found out Izuka was also a spy however , he still needs Hisma to join them on the battlefield After the Battle of Toba Fushimi , Himura abandons his sword as leaves the battlefield setting off on an unknown journey through Japan enters the Meiji era.
