Riphagen the Untouchable

"Riphagen" tells the true story of Andries Riphagen, a Dutch criminal who exploited and betrayed Jews during World War II. As the Nazis' collaborator, Riphagen infiltrated the resistance and used his charm and cunning to gain the trust of his victims. He extorted money and valuables from them, promising to keep them safe until after the war. But instead, he sold them out to the Nazis, condemning hundreds to death. The film follows Riphagen's rise to power in Amsterdam's underworld and his manipulation of those around him, including his wife Greetje, who was unaware of his true nature. It also highlights the bravery of the resistance fighters who risked everything to sabotage the Nazis and protect their fellow citizens. As the war ends, Riphagen's luck finally runs out, but he manages to evade justice for years. The film culminates in a tense confrontation between Riphagen and Jan, a young resistance fighter determined to bring him to justice. But despite Jan's best efforts, Riphagen escapes punishment until his death in 1973.
