A couple's life is turned upside down after the tragic death of their young son. They struggle to cope with their grief and begin to drift apart, each finding solace in their own way. The wife, Becca, starts to eliminate anything that reminds her of her son, while the husband, Howie, clings to memories of their child. They attend group therapy, but Becca becomes irritated with some of the members and stops going, while Howie continues to attend without her. Becca starts meeting with Jason, the teenage driver of the car that hit their son, and discovers he feels guilty. She also meets with her mother, who has lost a son of her own, and struggles to connect with her. As they try to move on and find a new sense of normalcy, they must confront their grief and learn to support each other in their own unique ways.
