Purgatory

Outlaws on the run, seeking refuge in Purgatory. A movie about redemption before entering heaven or screwing up and going to hell. The inhabitants of Refuge are all famous dead outlaws like Doc Holiday and Wild Bill Hckok, who must redeem themselves before gaining admittance to heaven, but their good intentions are put to a tough test when Blackjack Britton's gang arrives in town. Sonny from Blackjack's gang recognizes some of the residents from dime novels he reads and befriends a woman named Rose; Sonny realizes townspeople are former notorious gunfighters like Wild Bill Hickok when he investigates further. The townspeople finally admit to Sonny that Refuge is a form of Purgatory, reluctant to face off against Blackjack's gang because it will cost them their respite; Sonny decides to face the gang alone, inspiring Hickok, Holliday , James,and Billy to join him, resulting in Blackjack's gang being slaughtered. During the shootout Sonny gets fatally wounded but doesn't die ; Hickok welcomes him to Refuge noticing Sonny has earned his second chance; the gatekeeper carries Cavin's body and Blackjack's beyond the misty gates, and the stagecoach driver tells the remaining outlaws that they have secured a place in heaven.
