It's New Year's Eve 1942 in Leningrad, and the Voskresensky family is determined to celebrate in style, despite the Siege of Leningrad. But with their cook suddenly taken away, they're left with a raw chicken and no one to cook it. As they scramble to find a solution, unexpected guests arrive, including a hungry girl and a man who claims to be the eldest daughter's fiancé. The family must navigate the challenges of hiding their wealth and finding a way to cook their meager meal, all while trying to keep their spirits up and make the most of their holiday celebration. Will they manage to pull off a festive feast under the most difficult of circumstances?
