What is Police Academy about? 
In a bustling metropolis, the mayor has decreed that the police department must accept all recruit applications due to a shortage of officers. Carey Mahoney, a repeat offender, is given a choice by Police Captain Reed: enroll in the police academy to reform himself or go directly to prison. Mahoney agrees but plans to perform badly enough to be expelled for cause. The chief of police, Henry Hurst, wants to make the experience so bad for new recruits that they will give up and resign. Lieutenant Thaddeus Harris makes their lives miserable, while Commandant Eric Lassard wants to give them a chance.
