The real-life Hunter Adams was a man intensely dedicated to his work, yet prepared to stretch slapstick to snapping point in pursuit of his ideology, and on that basis, there is surely no one more qualified than Williams to portray him.

The movie follows Patch's journey as he faces opposition from the medical community, including Dean Walcott, who attempts to expel him again for practicing medicine without a license. Desperate to prove Walcott wrong, Patch files a grievance with the state medical board with the help of his former roommate Mitch Roman. The movie ends with Ppatch finally achieving his dream of opening a free hospital that provides care for those who cannot afford it, while also spreading joy through laughter therapy., changing lives one patient at time..
