The subject is good for a comedy but the screenplay tries exaggeratedly for the comic situation, often slipping into the absurd. American conservatives' look on immigrants is certainly realistic.

Starkt minne från barndomen när jag såg denna i föräldrahemmet. Förstod inte då hur briljant den är och uttrycket tidlös klassiker kommer väl till pass…

Frequently asked questions

What is The Party about? Toggle content

The Party is a 1968 comedy film featuring Peter Sellers as Hrundi V. Bakshi, an accident-prone Indian actor who lands an invitation to a swanky Hollywood party after causing chaos on a film set. The party, hosted by General Fred R. Clutterbuck, quickly descends into chaos as Hrundi's mishaps and misunderstandings lead to a series of hilarious events, including a flooded bathroom, a broken toilet, and a retractable floor that sends guests tumbling into a pool. Despite the mayhem, Hrundi manages to charm aspiring actress Michèle Monet and leaves the party with her phone number. The film's title refers to the wild and unforgettable party that Hrundi and Michèle experience, and the film's tagline, "The wildest, most unexpected party of the year!" accurately captures the spirit of the film.
