Panipat

In 18th century India, a powerful Maratha commander leads his army in a fierce battle against Afghan invaders, in a film based on real events. With a strong cast of characters, including Sadashiv Rao Bhau, the Peshwa's cousin and finance minister, and Ahmad Shah Abdali, the Afghan king, the film follows the Marathas' journey north to defend Delhi against the invading forces. As the two armies clash in a final confrontation, the Marathas face a series of challenges and setbacks, leading to a pyrrhic victory for Abdali. Despite their loss, the Marathas continue to be a dominant force in India, with leaders like Peshwa Madhav Rao and generals Mahadaji Shinde and Tukoji Rao Holkar working to re-capture Delhi and restore their empire.
