As a portrait of one good man attempting to do right by his faith, this is a compelling piece of filmmaking. As a distillation of many of the problems facing communities all over the country, it’s downright laudable.

In the heart of North Dakota's oil boom, a small town struggles to accommodate an influx of hopeful workers. With nowhere to turn, Pastor Jay Reinke opens the doors of his church to offer shelter to the "Overnighters." Despite resistance from his community, Reinke's act of compassion has a profound impact on the lives of these desperate men and the town at large. A powerful and thought-provoking documentary that explores the limits of redemption, the promise of re-invention, and the tension between compassion and resistance.
