Oildale

In a small town in California, a young girl named Carlie is struggling to support her younger brother and ailing grandfather, a WW2 veteran. Despite their difficult circumstances, Carlie's love for music gives her hope. When she hears about a local singing contest with a prize of $10,000 and a recording contract, she decides to enter. With the help of two displaced Vietnam veterans who rent rooms from her, Carlie discovers her unique voice and wins the first two rounds of the contest. However, her journey to the finals is complicated by the return of her absent father, who claims ownership of their family home. Faced with a difficult decision, Carlie must choose between pursuing her dreams or giving voice to one of the veterans who have become like family to her. Will she find a way to follow her heart and create a new family for herself, or will she sacrifice her dreams for the people she loves?
