My People, My Country

My People, My Country is a 2019 Chinese anthology film directed by seven different directors, exploring the history of modern China and its people from the 1940s to 2010. The film is composed of seven stories, each set in a different era, and features a star-studded cast, including Song Jia and Ou Hao. The first story, "The Eve," directed by Guan Hu, follows an engineer, Lin Zhiyuan, as he races against time to perfect an automatic flag-raising mechanism before the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949. The second story, "Passing by," directed by Zhang Yibai, tells the tale of a scientist, Gao Yuan, who works on China's first atom bomb and must bid farewell to his lover in the 1960s. The third story, "The Champion," directed by Xu Zheng, is about a young boy from Shanghai named Dong Dong who helps his neighbors watch TV for the China women's national volleyball team's Olympic gold medal win in 1984. The fourth story, "Going Home," directed by Xue Xiaolu , focuses on a Chinese executive delegation and local policemen preparing for the return of Hong Kong from British rule to China in 1997. The fifth story , "Hello Beijing," directed by Ning Hao , is about a taxi driver who gives a ticket to the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics to a young boy . The sixth story , " Goodbye South",directed by Wen Muye, is about two homeless boys who watch a spectacular space mission in the 2010s.And the last story, also directed by Wen Muye,'The Military Parade', is about a pilot of the air force who tries to ensure that a military parade to celebrate the end of World War II goes smoothly .
