As he becomes more entrenched in the Jourdain household, Molière falls in love with Jourdain's neglected wife, Elmire, and proceeds to use his theatrical talents to woo her. Meanwhile, a sub-plot involving the Jourdains' older daughter and a penniless aristocrat named Dorante adds to the hilarity and chaos.
