Noé wants you to see sex as a cocoon, so he genuinely tries to show you what attracts his young characters to each other. His earnest objectification of actors' bodies is, in that sense, often compelling.

Frequently asked questions

What is Love about? Toggle content

Love is a provocative and sexually charged film that explores the complexities of relationships and the blurred lines between love, lust, and obsession. Set in Paris, the film follows the story of an American film student named Murphy who becomes embroiled in a highly sexual and emotionally charged relationship with a beautiful and unstable woman named Electra. As their relationship deepens, Murphy finds himself torn between his love for Electra and his desire for another woman, Omi. The film's nonlinear narrative is told through fragmented flashbacks that reveal the highs and lows of Murphy's relationships with these two women, and how they ultimately intersect in unexpected ways. With its explicit sex scenes and raw emotional intensity, Love is a thought-provoking and unapologetic portrayal of modern love and its many complicated forms.
