In 1948, Louis-Ferdinand Céline, a renowned author accused of collaborating with the Nazis, lives in exile in Denmark with his wife Lucette and their cat Bebert. A young Jewish-American writer, Milton Hindus, arrives at their doorstep seeking to write a book about Céline's life and experiences. As the two men spend time together, they engage in provocative conversations and confront their differences. The encounter leaves neither of them unscathed.
