During a Christmas shopping trip to Mankato, the Wilder family's young daughter Rose is kidnapped by a grief-stricken mother who recently lost her own child. Laura, Almanzo, and Mr. Edwards embark on a desperate search for Rose, meeting a lonely orphan boy along the way who helps them uncover the truth behind her disappearance. As the search intensifies and Christmas approaches, they race against time to reunite their family and bring Rose home before the holiday.
