What is The Birdcage about? 
The Birdcage is a comedy movie about a gay cabaret owner named Armand Goldman who lives with his drag queen partner Albert and their flamboyant Guatemalan housekeeper Agador. Armand's son Val announces that he is getting married to a woman named Barbara, whose ultra-conservative parents are invited to meet Armand's family. To keep up appearances, Armand enlists his friends and employees to redecorate the apartment to resemble a traditional household, while Albert poses as Val's straight uncle. However, things get complicated when Katharine, Armand's former lover who is supposed to play his wife for the night gets caught in traffic, Albert's disguise as a conservative middle-aged woman fools the Keeleys but not the tabloid journalist Harry Radman who has been following them and Armand's note to Katharine not to come upstairs gets removed by Radman leading Val to confess to the scheme and identify Albert as his true parent. In the end, the family escapes being recognized by the paparazzi by dressing in drag and using the apartment's back entrance.
