Kaya Taran is a movie that delves into the themes of identity, belonging, and the power of human connection. Set in a convent in Meerut, the story follows a young journalist named Preet who visits the convent to do a story on conversions, only to find himself transported back in time to a pivotal moment in the convent's history. Through the memories of Sister Agatha, a Malayalee nun, we learn about the courage and selflessness of a group of nuns who risked everything to protect a young Sikh woman, Amarjeet, and her son Jaggi during a time of great turmoil and violence. As Preet learns more about the past, he finds solace and understanding in the stories of the nuns and the young boy who found refuge in their midst. Ultimately, the film shows how Preet finds peace with his own troubled past and reclaims his identity, symbolized by the turban he wears at the end.
