In the late 1800s, two brothers, Alessandro and Pietro, grow up in a remote village in the Italian Appennines. They spend their days exploring the wilderness,s racing carts,s and stealing from their father's cellar. After their mother's death, their father buys them two beautiful wild horses, Baio e Sauro. As they grow older ,Alessandro longs to leave the mountains behind and explore the world beyond, while Pietro desires to become a horse breeder and be with Veronica ,the girl he loves .
