Here on Earth

When a wealthy student, Kelley Morse (Chris Klein), is sentenced to community service in a small town after a reckless car race, he finds himself falling for Samantha Cavanaugh (Leelee Sobieski), a girl from the other side of the tracks. As Kelley and Samantha start spending time together despite Jasper's (Josh Hartnett) long-term relationship with her, they discover they have more in common than they imagine. However, when Jasper learns about their secret love, conflicts arise, and Kelley must decide whether to obey his father's wishes or stay by Samantha's side during her final months of life. In the end, Kelley returns to be with Samantha and recites a passage from a poem they loved at her funeral as the film closes with a shot of Samantha running through a field in her version of heaven.
