The Guest

The Guest is a 2014 American action thriller mystery film directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett. The movie follows the story of a soldier named David Collins (played by Dan Stevens) who introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After being welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence. The movie starts with the Peterson family, Spencer and Laura, and their children Luke and Anna, struggling to cope with the loss of their eldest son Caleb in the war in Afghanistan. One day, David Collins, a former U.S. Army sergeant, appears at their doorstep, claiming to be Caleb's best friend. He tells the family that he wanted to visit them as a way to help Caleb take care of them. The family, still grieving and vulnerable, welcomes David into their home. However, things start to take a dark turn when David begins to take matters into his own hands. He beats up Luke's bullies at school, and then uses his knowledge of the law and a bribe to convince the bartender not to tell anyone. He also goes to a Halloween party with Anna, where he makes a good impression with her friends and saves her friend Kristen from her violent ex-boyfriend. But, things take a deadly turn when David kills Craig and his friend to buy a gun and then kills Spencer's boss under mysterious circumstances giving Spencer the promotion he always wanted. As Anna starts to investigate David's past, she discovers that he presumably died a week earlier and that he was a test subject in military medical experiment that was "programmed"to kill anyone who might compromise his identity. Meanwhile, David kills Kristen in the chest and blows up restaurant where she and Anna work .He then goes to school to kill Luke but Carver team arrive before him and enters haunted house set up for Halloween dance where David Turns off lights and plays Anna' trapped and frightened, calling out for her brother. The Guest is a movie full of suspense, action, thrill and mystery that keeps you on the edge all the time wondering what would happen next.
