Room

A young woman and her five-year-old son, Jack, have been held captive for seven years in a small shed, "Room," by a man known as "Old Nick." Joy, the mother, tries to create a sense of normalcy for Jack, but their living conditions are harsh and she is subjected to regular rapes by Old Nick. One day, Joy decides to tell Jack about the outside world, and they come up with a plan to escape. They fake Jack's death and leave him in a rug outside Room, where he is discovered by a passerby and eventually rescued by the police. The police also rescue Joy and arrest Old Nick. The two are reunited with their family and struggle to adjust to life outside of Room.
