Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

In this cult classic film, journalist Raoul Duke and his lawyer Dr. Gonzo embark on a drug-fueled road trip to Las Vegas, where they plan to cover a motorcycle race. Along the way, they indulge in various drugs, including mescaline and LSD, and their behavior becomes increasingly erratic and bizarre. They encounter a young hitchhiker who flees in fear, and upon arriving in Vegas, Duke's acid trip intensifies, causing him to hallucinate that the hotel clerk is a moray eel and his fellow bar patrons are orgiastic lizards. The next day, Duke attends the race but becomes irrational and fires his photographer. He returns to the hotel room where he finds that Gonzo has trashed the room while high on LSD. Duke locks Gonzo in the bathroom before attempting to type his reminisces on hippie culture. The film flashes back to San Francisco where a hippie licks spilled LSD off his sleeve. The following morning, Duke awakens to an exorbitant room service bill and discovers that Gonzo has returned to Los Angeles while he slept. He attempts to leave town but is stopped by a patrolman for speeding and advised to sleep at a nearby rest stop. Instead, Duke calls Gonzo who informs him that he has a suite at the Flamingo Las Vegas for covering a district attorney's convention on narcotics. There he finds Gutzon tripping on LSD with young girl Lucy who claims she came from Ventura “to meet Barbra Streisand”. The events of this chaotic road trip are interwoven with surreal images of American culture during this period when hope was swept away by cynicism masquerading as political correctness..
