Effigy: Poison and the City

In 1828, Bremen, a young woman named Cato Böhmer joins the city's criminal court as a clerk, dreaming of becoming an attorney despite the societal norms against women in law. She teams up with investigating judge Senator Droste to probe into a suspected poisoning case, which leads them to Gesche Gottfried, a charming widow with a dark past. As the investigation unfolds, Gottfried becomes a prime suspect in a series of killings, and Böhmer must navigate political intrigue and forensic challenges to bring the truth to light.
