In a forgotten corner of the former Soviet Union, two young boys are taught to live by a strict moral code imposed by their community of banished criminals. As they grow up, Kolyma and Gagarin become best friends but find themselves on opposite sides of the code, leading to a violent conflict that threatens their friendship and their lives.
