Echo of the Mountain

"Echo of the Mountain" is a documentary that tells the story of Santos de la Torre, a renowned Huichol artist who has lived in obscurity in his home country. Despite creating a magnificent mural for the Louvre Museum, Santos has not received the recognition he deserves. The film follows his journey to Wirikuta, a sacred place for the Huichol people, where he seeks permission from the gods to create a new work. It also showcases his creative process as he works on a new mural that illustrates the history, mythology, and religious traditions of his people. Through Santos's story, the documentary sheds light on the marginalization and oblivion that the Huichol community faces in Mexico.
