What is Duel about? Toggle content

David Mann, a businessman, is driving through the Mojave Desert when he encounters a menacing tanker truck. The truck driver taunts and terrorizes Mann, playing a deadly game of cat and mouse. Despite Mann's attempts to shake the truck, it continues to pursue him, putting his life in danger. Mann stops at a gas station and phones his wife, but the truck parks next to him, making him uneasy. Back on the road, the truck tailgates Mann's car at high speed, causing him to swerve off the road and crash into a fence. Mann enters a rural diner to compose himself but realizes that the truck driver was not among the patrons he saw. After resuming his drive, Mann helps push a school bus with a broken engine off the road before flagging down another driver for help. However, the tanker truck reappears and pushes Mann's car towards an oncoming train at a railroad crossing. Lucky enough to escape being hit by the train due to quick thinking and fast reflexes when he noticed that there was an upcoming railroad crossing ahead while waiting on said train., after crossing it he floors it across said tracks while doing it alongside an open field until he gets away from said monstrous vehicle for good this time!, Mann drives carefully because he knows there will be another encounter with this psychopathic criminal who has chosen our everyman David as his victim for some twisted reason unknown so far... He stops again at another gas station (I assume because I don't feel like re-reading everything again just so I can type up more plot points/description since I already have quite some lot here). There is where we see The Driver of Said Truck give chase around an animal attraction consisting mostly of Rattlesnakes while our hero David Manno tries frantically (and desperately) calling for help using one of those ancient telephone booth things you used to see prior to everyone having cellphones; alas! said booth gets crushed by none other than that demonic fuel-tanker itself! What will become of poor Mr.Mann? Will any officer show up in time or perhaps arrive fashionably late? Does this mysterious figure have accomplices lurking somewhere nearby just waiting for their signal/cue? Whatever happens next make no mistake that these final moments will definitely NOT disappoint!
