Lethal Weapon 2

Lethal Weapon 2 is an action-packed buddy cop movie that follows the adventures of mismatched Los Angeles police officers Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) as they attempt to take down a powerful South African drug trafficking ring. After stumbling upon a trunk full of illegal gold coins, the duo is tasked with protecting a key witness, Leo Getz (Joe Pesci), who has information about the drug smugglers. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a web of corruption and deception that leads them to confront the South African consul-general, Arjen Rudd (Joss Ackland), who invokes diplomatic immunity to avoid prosecution. Despite being instructed to leave the case alone, Riggs begins to openly harass the South African consulate and romances Rudd's secretary, Rika van den Haas (Rene Russo). Murtaugh enlists Leo's help in creating a scene at the consulate that wins the support of anti-apartheid protesters outside. However, things take a turn for the worse when Vorstedt (Dré van der Merwe), one of Rudd's henchmen, kills several officers investigating them and abducts Leo. After killing many of the investigating officers, Vorstedt reveals that he was responsible for Riggs' wife's death years earlier during a botched assassination attempt on him. Enraged and determined to seek revenge for his wife's death, Riggs escapes and brutally kills both of Vorstedt's men before phoning Murtaugh and declaring his intention to pursue Rudd and avenge their fallen friends. Willingly forsaking his badge to aid his partner, Murtaugh joins Riggs on his quest for justice in this high-octane thrill ride filled with explosive action sequences and witty banter between its two leading men.
