A retired Indian immigrant living in New Jersey finds himself unexpectedly single and lonely when his wife leaves him to pursue a spiritual life in India and his daughter moves to Mongolia with her German boyfriend. In an attempt to cope with his emptiness, he turns to a stack of Cosmopolitan magazines left behind by his daughter, which leads him to develop a new perspective on relationships and eventually, a tender and intimate connection with his eccentric neighbor. However, their relationship faces challenges and Gopal must confront his own insecurities and long-term vision for the future.
