Cinco de Mayo: The Battle

On May 5th, 1862, a small and inexperienced Mexican army, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza, bravely defied the odds and fought against the powerful French army, which had invaded Mexico with the intention of establishing a monarchy and eventually joining forces with the Confederate Army in the American Civil War. Despite being vastly outnumbered and poorly armed, the Mexican soldiers fought with all their might, determined to protect their homeland and repel the invaders. As the historic Battle of Puebla raged on, a romance blossomed between Juan and Citlali, two humble Mexicans who had joined the defense, in a seemingly impossible mission.
