What is Charlie Bartlett about? Toggle content

Charlie Bartlett is a charismatic teenager who, after being expelled from several private schools, enrolls in a public high school run by an alcoholic principal. Unable to fit in, Charlie decides to become the school's resident therapist, offering advice and drugs in the boys' bathroom. His popularity soars, and he even wins the heart of the principal's daughter. However, things take a dangerous turn when a depressed student attempts suicide using drugs provided by Charlie. Charlie befriends the student and helps him through his struggles, ultimately deciding to stop selling drugs and focus on providing free therapy. A confrontation with the principal leads to Charlie's arrest, but the students riot to protest his arrest, resulting in the principal's firing. Charlie and the principal have a heart-to-heart conversation, and Charlie finally gains the confidence to visit his father in prison.
