In the Winter of 1862, a young man named Ulrich arrives at a remote mountain inn, where he meets Lise, the daughter of the proprietors. Despite his inexperience, Ulrich is left in charge of the inn when Gaspard, the seasoned caretaker, fails to return from a hunting trip. As a severe snowstorm cuts off the inn from the outside world, Ulrich must confront his fears and inner demons to survive.
