A pair of mysterious women, Eleanor and Clara, seek refuge in a run-down coastal town, bringing with them a dark secret that spans 200 years. They take up residence in an old hotel, Byzantium, which Clara transforms into a brothel, while Eleanor writes her life story and captivates a young man named Frank. As their past threatens to catch up with them, Eleanor's relationship with Frank deepens, and the true nature of their existence is revealed. Meanwhile, a group of outsiders, including a vampire named Werner, hunt them down, leading to a violent and deadly confrontation. Can Eleanor and Clara keep their secret safe, or will their past come back to haunt them?
